The safety of railway transportation is of great significance, as the railway is thebackbone and economic lifeline of a country. Radio Shunting Cab Signaling and MonitoringSystem Applicable to Main Line Locomotives supervise and control shunting operation ofmain line locomotives, in order to ensure the safety of shunting operation of main linelocomotives. In the system, locomotive positioning plays a quite important role, since theimplementation of system functions depends largely on it. The method of locomotivepositioning currently used in China railway system is relatively simple, which increase thecost of operating and maintenance. Given the above situation, this paper design andimplement an integrated positioning method which takes the result of map-matching, datafrom Train Running Monitor and Record Device, information of station interlocking systeminto consideration to give a comprehensive result. The method can not only meet thepositioning accuracy and stability requirements, but also reduce the cost and workload. Andthe method has great application foreground due to these advantages.The method of locomotive positioning in this paper is made up of two parts,map-matching and integrated positioning. In the part of map-matching, this paper design andimplement the verification scheme of Geographic Information Map of GPS, and preprocessGPS data output by the GPS receiver, which greatly improve the positioning precision ofmap-matching. This paper matches the location of locomotive to the region before the section,which reduces the computational complexity. In the part of integrated positioning, dependingon the two states of Train Running Monitor and Record Device, this paper design andimplement integrated positioning method respectively. Experimental results of20stations onLonghai line show that, the method of locomotive positioning in this paper greatly increasethe availability of the system, and has reached the aim of the design.
