Since the21st century, with the development of science and technology, people’s living standards continue to improve, and income have increasedsteadily, the car has been gone into every family, and become a good helperof daily life. Driving outside, we can save the precious time. what’s more, itcan improve efficiency. While a serious problems also arising, for drunkendriving caused by traffic accidents frequently occur, to this end, China willmake criminal law for drunk driving. Then it is very necessary for us to designa intelligent instrument which is capable of detecting driver’s alcohol content. This design involves alcohol sensors, ATmega16single chip microcomputer,LCD display and voice modules and other components. When a driverbreathes gas excess alcohol concentration, it will send out sound and lightalarms, and the system will cut off the ignition circuit against control enginesystem. This device can be set according to the different environment by thecomparison of different threshold. This system design is mainly divided into two parts, physical hardwarepart and software part. Hardware part is mainly using alcohol concentrationsensor and detect the alcohol concentration inside. It will output signal afterA/D converter, then single chip microcomputer and its correspondingperipheral circuit will judge it, finally this system will present alcoholconcentration value by displaying module. In this process, if it is beyondpreset, then the engine will be banned immediately, otherwise ignition startssmoothly. For Software part, it is mainly written in C language program, adopting the modular structure of independent design, and it is to facilitate thedebugging and modification.
