Research And Development Morphology Screen In Chinese Dining Space Design

The screen is created in Western Zhou Dynasty and still in use today widely. It is aunique art form created by the Chinese people. This paper studies the art form evolvementof the screen and its application and development in the dining space design of the Chinesestyle. Firstly, it introduces the cultural meaning, function, type and its application form inthe interior space in various periods. This could better our living environment and satisfyour aesthetic needs. Secondly, it makes an analysis on the design of the modern diningspace to understand nowadays people’s requirement and how to flexibly place the screen inthe dining room to change the environment to affect people’s feeling when dining. Finally, itdeeply studies the cultural meaning of the Chinese traditional screen art to find its culturevalue on the point of modern time. With the inspiration obtained from this, we will reorganize the elements to create new art form, which could be duly performed in the dining space design of the Chinese style. When the design concept of the screen itself is combined with the modern application mode, by using the method of modern science and technology, the dining environment could be more flexibly changed. These changes will not only satisfy our needs on practical use and aesthetics to show the value and the meaning of the screen, but alsopromote the development of this oldest art form. In this way, the art form could be better inherited and development in the future.
