SR motor has the advantages of solid structure, simple processing, reliable, low maintenance,simple control etc. When design the power converter, each power device series with the statorwinding, to avoid the short-circuit phenomenon which appeared in ordinary inverter circuit. Thisfurther improves the reliability of SR motor control system. However, the rotor’s position is thebasis for synchronous operation of SR motor. The detection of the rotor’s position is veryimportant to approach the performance indicators. It makes the motor processing complex,increases the cost and reduces the overall system reliability, due to the existence of position sensorin conventional SR motor speed control system. In this paper, on the basis of the analysis of theSR motor the interphase the mutual inductance and the rotor position relationship, the impact ofwheeling on the non-excitation of the rotor relative to the indirect position detection is putforward.Firstly, to study the structure and its mathematical model of switched reluctance motor, depthstudy of the SR motor indirectly the basic principle of the position detection by detecting eachphase of the voltage, current, to obtain the variation of the magnetic flux. The effect offreewheeling on indirect position detection of basing flux variation was done in theory.Secondly, established the model of8/6SR motor using finite element analysis method andMatlab/Simulink method. Based on this model we analyses the relationship between mutualinductance and rotor’s position in non-excitation phase, when single-phase and two-phaseexcitation. We measured the relationship of mutual inductance and rotor’s position of a2.2KWprototype, and proved the correctness of the equivalent magnetic network model. Ready the studyof freewheeling for the impact of SR motors indirect position detection.Finally, it is composed of all-digital controller using DSP to build experimental platform, theinterphase mutual inductance detection method based on DSP control8/6switched reluctancemotor hardware platform. Test analysis and validation studies freewheeling impact of the SRmotors indirect position detection.
