Conceptual design phase is essential for the whole product design process, for it willdetermine the product quality, development cycle and subsequent manufacturing cost of theproduct. It is very urgent to figure out a feasible way to obtain the conceptual design efficiently andexactly. As such, the design generation method and design selection method should be the researchfocus.This thesis aims to analyze the characteristics of electromechanical device behaviors with thetheoretical basis of Casual Behavior Process (CBP) design model knowledge, by which theconceptual design information can be extended. It also attempts to develop method to supportdesign generation by the Function Behavior Structure (FBS) design model.First, the thesis conducts a literature review on conceptual design researches, and claims thepurpose and significance of this study. After that, the function module and behavior process arestudied, based on which the Extended Casual Behavior Process (ECBP) design model andExtended Function Behavior Structure (EFBS) design model are presented.Next, the thesis tries to propose two conceptual design generation methods that are referred toas Order Solution method and Semi-reverse Acquisition method respectively. Based on the formerone, the paper also proposes a design generation method for computer-aided design by combiningthe Function Structure (FS) mapping model and Design Structure Matrix (DSM) storage designinformation.Third, by applying behavioral modeling method for representation of conceptual design, thepaper proposes a node matching algorithm for searching behavioral model, together with a modelsimilarity evaluation method.Fourth, the paper tries to apply a fuzzy index evaluation method for the conceptual design ofelectromechanical devices, where a number of evaluation indexes specific for electromechanicaldevices are proposed and organized into various levels for the evaluation algorithm.Finally, a conceptual design generation software platform is presented, including conceptualdesign generation module, conceptual design searching module, conceptual design evaluationmodule and user login management module.
