Diesel electronic control technology is one of effective methods to improve engine economy, power performance and reduce emissions. The spray characteristics of diesel are important factors to affect fuel consumption, ignition and combustion, exhaust emissions and other important performance. Therefore, the research of electronic injection and spray characteristics on diesel is very necessary and meaningful.To investigate the spray and combustion characteristics, the optical spray test research platform based on constant volume combustion cell was installed, including auto-heat system, gas supply system, pre-ignition system, fuel supply and injection system, data acquisition and electronic control system, optical schlieren system and a high-speed camera. The tests compared the effect on ignition delay, combustion speed, the highest combustion temperature and pressure of different ignition energy, acetylene concentration, oxygen content and mixture component. Based on the freescale microcomputer HC9S12XDP512MAL, the solenoid drive circuit for electronically controlled high pressure injector was designed. The paper detailed introduces the structure, the working principle, the drive circuit and drive current waveform of the electronic injector. The influence of fuel type, injection pressure and injection duration on spray characteristics was studied. In this paper, the data acquisition card NI USB-6251M was used to build data acquisition system. Based on LabVIEW, the spray test bench control program was designed. By using schlieren system and high speed camera to obtain the images of pre-burn, spray atomization, evaporation and combustion, premixed combustion test, spray evaporation test and spray combustion test have be done.Through a large number of experimental verification, the data acquisition and electronic control system designed for the constant volume combustion cell spray test platform can be used for almost all spray characteristics research. The system has a great value for the research of diesel electronic control injection technology and spray combustion characteristics.
