Transient stability analysis is an important part of Security analysis of PowerSystem. It’s rather important to predict transient stability quickly and accurately after apower system has been subjected to a severe transient disturbance. The direct method(also called transient energy function method)predicts the transient stability in the viewof energy, ignoring the differential computing. In this thesis, some researches on theon-line transient stability analysis are done, they are based on the direct method.This thesis considers several common-used direct methods,compares theircharacteristics and uses one kind of direct method that called potential energy range(PER) method, cooperating with trajectory prediction, proposed some new methods aimat on-line transient stability study: Firstly, improve the PER method by using thegeneralized individual machine energy function. and put forward a improved PERalgorithm based on the WAMS information, improving the accuracy of PER; Secondly,propose a new platform for on-line transient transient stability study by combining PERmethod and a trajectory prediction method, and study a Taylor series trajectory predictionmethod, considering both the speed and the accuracy. This method use the data collectedin100ms after clearing the disturbance to predict the data in500ms after clearing thedisturbance, and got a accurate result by simulating use a WSCC standard9-bus system;Finally, use the information of HuNan province to test the idea about on-line transientanalysis method. The simulation results prove that the methods can predict transientstability of a power system quickly and accurately.
