This paper has discussed the development condition of domestic and international relevant transient stability analysis method. It has analysed the calculating character of various methods. And it has summarized the advantage and shortcoming of various methods. This paper compares the existing two basic methods of power system transient stability analysis. Then we choose the Trapezoidal Rule, the simplest implicit integration method in numerical method and the Potential Energy Boundary Surface method in the direct methods to construct a mix analysis method for transient stability analysis. The mix method constructed in this paper uses PEBS method first to carry out a fast calculation for the network, to get the critical potential energy and the critical amputate time. The come out of PEBS method is used as the initial value of the Trapezoidal Rule. Then the mix analysis method uses the Trapezoidal Rule calculating iteratively to get a further accurate critical amputate time.Verified the mix method and analysed the result, we can find out that the error of the mix analysis method's result is in the boundary. The mix analysis method has a rapid calculating speed, so it has the prospect of on-line application. But because of the system model considered in the mix method is a little rough, so the precision of its result still need be raised.
