Wind power is an important part of clean and renewable energy, and it has obviousadvantage in its technical maturity and cost compared with other clean energy. So windpower is also famous in the world, and its installed capacity has been increased steadily inthe past15years. However, people pay more attention on security and stability in operationwith the large-scale operation of wind turbine. Wind turbine drive system (includingimpeller, spindle, main bearing, gearbox and generator) is the core component of energyconversion of wind turbine, and the failure rate has increased gradually with the increasingunit capacity, and maintenance costs caused by the failure of the drive system anddowntime losses have been ranked the forefront of all faults, so research on fault diagnosisof wind turbine drive system is imperative.This paper did some research on fault diagnosis of wind turbine drive system both insimulation and experimental study. First this paper built a model of megawatt doubly fedwind turbine which is common in the market and a model of speed increase gear which isdetailed, and this paper validated these two models. Meanwhile fault simulation was did inthe models including impeller unbalanced fault of wind turbine model and gear fault of geargrowth model, and results of faults were compared and analyzed from the qualitative orquantitative point. In experimental study, this paper built a fault diagnosis test bench ofwind turbine drive system according to the current mainstream form of wind turbine, andthis paper measured signals using vibration way and electrical way according to the currentresearch on fault monitoring and diagnosis. At the same time this test bench can doexperimental study on common faults in wind turbine drive system, including bearing fault,gear fault and several coupling faults.This paper developed wind turbine remote monitoring and fault diagnosis systembased on above models, experimental study and basic research on online monitoring andfault diagnosis of wind turbine, and has detailed introduction and description of the systemabout overall design, selection and installation of the sensor, and determination ofacquisition system and software design of the system and other sides. This system is mainly on vibration monitoring as well as wind turbine SCADA signalanalysis, and it can make real-time determination and feedback of health status of the windturbine in order to give warning or alarm before failure or minor faults appear of the windturbine, and this can ensure safe and stable operation of wind turbine and has importantsignificance to improve the reliability of the wind turbine.
