"Chang’an Street-the Three Gate Street" areas (ie,"the banding area "), is one ofBeijing’s most important political and cultural axis witnessed Beijing city changes, butalso fully demonstrated the Republic of modern culture and modern lookpavilions. Theresearch on it’s protection and development, is not only one of the important element ofthe overall protection of the old city of Beijing, but also in key areas of the building"cultural capital", to promote the integration of the development of the old city northand south city.Based on research of development and construction events and processes of the"Chang’an Street-the Three Gate Street" areas, to sum up the region" collage "stylebuilding characteristics and urban form evolution and to summarizes the main featuresof the "Chang’an Avenue-the Three Gate Street" areas on urban form, urban functions,historical resources and other aspects, i.e. diversity and fragmentation of urbanfunctions and space. How to make up for the defects fragmentation and play to theadvantages of diversity, it is key to the protection and development of the region.In this paper, based on the respect for and protection of urban diversity and vitality,learning from organic renewal, the "catalyst theory" theory as well as integrated urbandesign, as the core principle of "integration" and "weaving", by specific strategy ofweaving the urban form, perfecting street style, adjusting the area function, improvingthe traffic environment, enhancing public space and making use of the historic resources,to form a network-based, systematic, contact surrounding urban areas and internalblocks urban design, combined with specific spatial form "weaving" design of urbanspace, enhance the environmental quality of urban design techniques.
