As a Chinese traditional garden with a profound historical and cultural heritage,like other traditional gardens, Huaqing Palace also experienced the evolution fromproduction, development, prosperity, and decline to reconstruction in its entiredevelopment process. Currently, in the era of globalization and rapid development ofsocial diversity, the needs of people have undergone tremendous changes, whichpropose new requirements for the current development of Huaqing Palace. How tomaintain its inherent nature while changing the outdated status is a question that mustbe solved by each person participating in the transformation of the traditional gardenslike Huaqing Palace. Scholars in this field have done a lot of related studies on howthese traditional gardens can adapt to current social development and construction.These studies will undoubtedly guide us in and make great contribution to planning,design and construction of traditional gardens. However, for a traditional garden with3,000-year history of royal garden and6,000-year history of unitizing hot spring, webelieve that it is necessary to focus on its history and find its unique historical buildingexperience from its historical evolution and the heritage and development of buildingart in the traditional garden Huaqing Palace to guide its current planning, design andconstruction, which is also the expression of heritage and development of the buildingart of the traditional garden Huaqing Palace in the new era.Based on the historical evolution of the spatial pattern of Huaqing Palace, thispaper analyzes the content related to the historical development of its building art.Firstly, it describes the historical periods of the evolution of spatial pattern in HuaqingPalace and proposes the criteria of division with construction as the purpose and incombination of construction method and with construction era as the historical period to divide its historical evolution process into several peak construction phases anddivide the historical evolution of spatial pattern of Huaqing Palace into five stages, i.e."Lishan Tang" in the Qin Dynasty, Huaqing Palace at a period of great prosperity inTang Danyasty,"Lingquan Guan" after the expansion in the Northern Song Dynasty,the expansion of Nine Dragon Lake Scenic Area after the founding of the PRC, and thecomprehensive and rapid development of the current Huaqing Palace. This paperadopts the analysis methods such as literature analysis, landscape spatial analysis,comparative analysis and map analysis to summarize and explore the constructionbackground, construction process, construction ideas, construction methods and patternfeatures of each phase based on the five phases of historical evolution in the spatialpattern of Huaqing Palace.Secondly, through the analysis of the historical evolution of the spatial pattern ofHuaqing Palace and from the perspective of construction application of the currentHuaqing Palace. Summed up the Huaqing Palace’s essential attribute of the objectiveexistence,that as Lishan place in terms of the use of hot springs;Summed up thelandscape spatial pattern–“mountain palace in one”;Summed up the gardenconstruction methods-“cut from the old base”;Summed up the rich historical andcultural value on the bath, Royal Garden,love,pear,religiousand other aspects;Summedup the historical experience and other relevant,such as a reasonable environmentalcapacity about visitors and the historical building mode-Only input, no output. Finally,it analyzes the current problems in Huaqing Palace, points out the problems to besolved, advocates to put the historical experience in the construction of the currentHuaqing Palace, describes the main application measures, and make a explanationthrough the case of planning, design and construction of Furong Park.
