As a place of ancient Chinese leisure culture, Teahouse has experienced a seriesof development process with infancy, development, prosperity, popularity, decay andrenaissance. This process represents that Chinese traditional leisure culture inheritanceand development in the long history of China, also reflects the results ofthe era’schanges in China and the changes in the needs of society.Compared to the decayduringthe war years, the teahouse has rebuilt the connection with people’s leisure life whenpost-industrial age comes up, and gradually become an important leisure culture placesfor people when they outside of work. In another way, post-industrial society has moreNeed of refinement, makes people’s demand of teahouse have more refineclassification, on the setting of this times, it appears the teahouse which for the purposeof the public’s diversified needs.Easy to see, The teahouse have greater development ideas and development spacein design cause of these changes of social needs, which is worth designers pay moreattention and discussion. However, the existing related literature research for thecontemporary teahouse architectural design technique is still in the academic blankstage, and practice experience of existing cases also appeared weak and urgent. For thisreason, the teahouse’s theory level lags far behind the practice level, because of thisreason, architects could not receive adequate theoretical guidance when they work onteahouse design. This is the direct cause which lead to the teahouse industry has a kindof phenomenon about excessive decorate and shallow layers symbolic expression likeupstart right now, this is the problem that need to be solved urgently in contemporaryteahouse design. In view of the current prominent contradictions of teahouse design, this article isbased on the relationship between teahouse development history and changes of the era,and had discussed the influence by changes of postindustrialsocietyand thediversification of public demands, which had affected the development of teahousesystem; This article also investigated, experienced and read nationwide46teahousesby the way of field research, and analyzed and summarized12typical Contemporaryteahouse cases under different social needs by the way of case analysis approach,hopes to effectively explore methods of contemporary teahousefrom practice,for thepurpose of providing more theoretical basis and literature support for the teahousedesign practice in the future.
