In contemporary society, the changes of people’s aesthetic needs also propose newrequirements for the design of current gardens. How to create an entertaining gardenwith a certain ornamental value is a problem that must be faced by every gardendesigner. The landscape formed in maze pattern in the garden has a certain ornamentaland entertaining value, and in order to better adapt to the needs of contemporary people,we can apply different design principles and design techniques of maze pattern in theChinese and West gardens to meet the construction needs of modern gardens andachieve the inheritance and expansion of this pattern.Through the research on the development process of maze pattern in the Chineseand Western gardens and its quantitative analysis, this paper tries to look for differencesand similarities, analyze the cultural and social differences and position thedevelopment process of maze pattern in combination with cases. Based on the analysisof design ideas and design methods of maze pattern in the Chinese and Western gardens, this paper tries to inherit the excellent traditional skills, explore the experience in termsof overall layout, spatial construction, stone arrangement, plant assortment andfunctional requirements, and create the maze pattern in gardens through exploration andcontinuous improvement. In addition, it sums up the past experience in maze pattern ingarden building, proposes the scientific methods of maze pattern design in moderngardens and attempts to summarize the form and function of maze pattern in theChinese and Western gardens to provide theoretical support for the overall value ofmaze pattern in gardens. It makes a systematic and complete description of the development process ofevolution of maze pattern in the Chinese and Western gardens from the perspective ofhistorical evolution. According to the differences of influence of various aspects in thesociety in China and the Western countries at that time, such as social changes, changesin thinking and cultural heritage, it summarizes the morphological differences andfunctional differences exhibited by maze pattern in the gardens at that time. This paper presents the method of adopting the quantitative analysis to comparethe maze pattern in the Chinese and Western gardens, and make statistical calculationsof garden area, path length, path length of projection, and morphological variation ofthe cases under study. It tries to use the ratio of the above data for summarization, analyzes the design ideas and design methods of the maze pattern in the Chinese andWestern gardens based on the above data, and summarizes the classification of mazepattern in the Chinese and Western gardens and its own characteristics through thecomparison of the differences in philosophy, anesthetics, understanding of space, elements of garden building and functional requirements of the people at that time to thedesign of maze pattern in the Chinese and Western gardens. It tries to analyze the classic cases in maze pattern in modern gardens, and uses thedesign principles and design techniques of maze pattern in the Chinese and Westerngardens to make targeted, active and professional analysis to these cases. Eventually, thetheoretical results that are suitable for and can be used in the landscape design of thegardens in maze pattern are formed.
