| As a new type of structural system, the semi-rigid frame with unbondedcross-stiffened steel plate shear wall (SR-UCS-SPSW) is seldom investigated no matterwhether in domestic or abroad at present. In this paper, the lateral performance of thisstructural system has been studied by experimental research and finite element methods.A test specimen of the SR-UCS-SPSW named CBRP was tested under low cyclicreversal loading. By analysis of the experimental phenomena and test data, the lateralperformance of CBRP had been discussed, which included its failure mode as well as itsstrength degradation and stiffness degradation, ductility and energy dissipation. The results show that, the specimen CBRP inherits the advantages of traditionalsemi-rigid frame with cross-stiffened steel plate shear wall, that is to prevent theembedded steel plate from excessive early buckling and instability by setting stiffenerswhich provides considerable lateral restraint stiffness. As a result, the stiffness and theload capacity of the wall are significantly improved, which also has better ductilityperformance, dissipation capacity as well as stable of the hysteretic behaviors under lowcyclic loading. On the other hand, because channel stiffeners and the infill panel areconnected by using the high strength bolt, the disadvantages of the residual deformationand the initial geometrical imperfection induced by welding are eliminated effectively. On the basis of the experimental study, the finite element (FE) software ABAQUShas been used to investigate the mechanical behavior of the CBRP under low cyclicloads. It shows that the ABAQUS can simulate the mechanical properties well under low cyclic loading well by comparing the FE results with the experimental results.Subsequently, the influence of axial compression ratio of frame column, the ratio ofpanel height to thickness, the stiffness ratio of stiffener to panel, the stiffness of theframe column, as well as the initial geometric imperfections of the embedded steel plateand the arrangement of the stiffening channels to the shear performance of the structureis studied systematically by using the verified FE model CBRP respectively. This paper presents a pilot study on the lateral performance of the SR-UCS-SPSW,providing a foundation for the further study on this structural system, and the results canalso provide a reference for design application. |
