In recent years, frequent terrorist attacks and accidental explosion have causedmany casualties and serious property losses. For this reason the explosive hazardsare getting much more attention throughout the world. The dynamic response of thestructures under blast load and the design of structures to withstand explosion loadhave become a hot topics in the field of civil engineering. Blast resistant chamber isa reinforced concrete structure which can sustain damaging effects caused by aninternal explosion. According to the properties of the dangerous goods it products orstores and the requirements to resume production, the blast resistant chamber isdesigned as a structure that can sustain one or more times explosion loads. Suchbuildings are suitable for munitions factory, civil explosive factory, fireworksfactory and many other dangerous special engineering structures. Therefore, deepstudies of the dynamic response of the blast resistant chamber under blast load, theblast propagation law and the reinforcement measures to protect the chamber havean important scientific and practical significance.The main contents of this paper include the following aspects:1. Using nonlinear dynamic finite element codes ANSYS/LS-DYNA, ALEalgorithm and JWL state equation, the numerical model of a blast resistant chamberwhich is based on a real structure was built. The influence of grid size has beenspecial studied.2. The blast propagation law and the dynamic response of the blast resistantchamber under blast load have been studied. Parametric analysis method was used toinvestigate some parameters which may have influence on anti-explosiveperformance of the blast resistant chamber, TNT mass, concrete strength, wallthickness, distance between TNT and the wall and reinforcement ratio.3. Aluminum foam laminates were applied to protect the blast resistantchamber. The reinforcement effect and the way to get a suitable aluminum foamlaminates have been studied. Some parameters which may have influence onanti-explosive performance of the aluminum foam laminates also have been studiedusing parametric analysis method.
