Space-based early warning system consists of wide-field scanning andnarrow-filed staring optical systems to complete the real-time observation of theballistic missile initiative, midcourse and reentry.Because midcourse is the criticalstage to obtain ballistic orbital parameters, attack placement, types of ballistic, thedessertation studies staring imaging system in LEO and completes surveillanceimaging task of midcourse ballistic missile(midcouse target). The good capability of surveillance imaging system determines the accurateand timely missile orbital parameters which are used by missile interceptionsystem, and the reasonable research and analysis instruct the design of staringoptical system. In order to surveillance the midcourse ballistic missile, the cone target isimaged by the mode of above-the-horizon.By analyzing the orbital altitude of themidcourse target and surveillance imaging system, working distance of opticalsystem,field-of-view,spectral range and radiation characteristics are abtained.Modified spectral irradiance model of cone surface is established.Based on theconstrain of effective incident cross-section,the relationship among the objectpose, directions of the earth radiation and line of sight is built.Based on thedetection range formula of infrared system and match of cold stop, the diameter andeffective focal length are certained. The certain field-of-view and spectral rangedetermine the type of focal plane detector.According to the optical systemindicators, staring optical system is designed in terms of imaging quality andtolerance.
