Based on a certain frame of channel cutting slope machine, the finite element model isestablished by using HyperMesh. The stiffness and modal characters of the frame are gainedqualitatively through static and dynamic analysis. The working condition of the equipment, andthe static loads and dynamic loads on the frame are analyzed. According to this, the calculationsof stress field and displacement field are carried out for the frame in operating conditions. Inaddition, from the dynamic analysis, the calculations of the frame modal parameters (naturalfrequency and vibration model) are given. Size optimization method based on FEM isemployed to redesign the structure of the frame. Static and dynamic information about theoptimized frame is gained to have the best frame structure, and give some instructivesuggestion for the design of new frame.It is showed in the research that the frame of channel cutting slope machine can meet thedesign requirement, the dynamic characters are also satisfied with the design requirement. It isalso shown from the performance parameters of the optimized body are improved. At the sametime, the modern CAE optimization method in the channel paver develops mechanical designmethods, it has positive influence on the efficiency and level of South-north water transferproject in our country.
