Railway transport is critical for the whole transportation system of China, with theadvantages of great capacity, fast speed, low freight rate, low consumption and pollution, safe and reliable. With the development of high-speed and heavy-load railway, the issue ofabrasion of steel rail and contact fatigue become increasingly serious. Therefore, the studywith regard to contact and matching performances of wheel/rail, is of great significance tothe smooth and safe driving of trains as well as the cost control of the railway transport. The paper considered geometric parameter of wheel/rail profile and established athree-dimensional elastic-plastic rolling contact model of wheel/rail, with the assistance ofANSYS/LS-DYNA software as the analysis tool. The model adopted CHN75steel rail, and the forms of wheel tread included conical, LM and LMa. In addition, this paperclassified contact area into adhesion area and slide area according to their definition, andcalculated longitudinal creepages in different working situations.Chapter3studied how did the axel load, friction coefficient and the change of lateraldeviation influence the contact performance of wheel/rail. The result showed that with theincrease of axel load, the normal contact stress and the contact spot area were all enlargedwhile the absolute value of creepage reduced. The result also explained the absolute valuewould be smaller when friction coefficient became larger, and the adhesive effect wouldbe better. Additionally, the value of lateral deviation and the absolute value of creepagewould increase correspondingly, even if contact stress reduced.Chapter4studied the matching performances of different tread forms and wheeldiameter against CHN75steel rail. The result stated that LM wheel tread cannot achievegood matching performance against CHN75steel rail, whether the rail cant is1:20or1:40,however, LMa wheel tread matched CHN75steel rail well when the rail cant is1:40. Thechanges of wheel setdiameter would have great impact on the creepage.
