Research On Planning And Design Of Waterfront Greenway

With the acceleration of the urbanization process in China， the waterfront area hasbecome one of the most intense zone which human activities and natural areas of processinteract with each other. Waterfront greenway as one of the most important types ofgreenways, has variety functions such as ecological, leisure, recreation, economic, social,cultural, and so on. It is just the method that can meet the functional requirements of theurban waterfront area.. Waterfront greenway is an effective way to solve the contradictionbetween the waterfront human activities and ecological environment protection, as well asto control urbanization sprawl and promote both urban and rural development.In this paper, the fundamental theory study including the theory of landscape design,theory of landscape ecology, theory of the suitability analysis theory and the theory ofHeritage Corridor, and the recreation science basic theory. Then the author summarizedgreenway evolution in both abroad and in China. The author chooses some classicpractical cases in building waterfront greenway, study the waterfront greenway scontents and methods of planning and designing. Such as， the structure of the urbanwaterfront greenway, the classification of waterfront greenway. Then explore theprinciples of waterfront greenway s planning and design, the contents of waterfrontgreenway s planning and design, the process and strategy of waterfront greenway splanning and design. This paper expects to set design reference for future construction ofurban waterfront greenway.
