In recent years, with the consumption of oil resources, the living environment of mankind isdeteriorating continually, then the development of green energy transportation is becoming moreand more essential. Electric Vehicle which is energy conservation and low-emission(or zeroemission) will be a means to solve this problem. At the present stage, Hybrid Electric Vehicle asthe type of transition between conventional vehicle and pure electric vehicle is becoming themain force of new energy vehicle. Compared with than the conventional vehicle, Hybrid ElectricVehicle has good fuel economy, lower fuel consumption and good emission characteristics.This paper was based on the working principle of Hybrid Electric Vehicle. According to theprinciple of automotive design, the vehicle drive mode and power distributor gear aredemonstrated, and the selection of the engine, motor, and transmission ratio are calculated. Byanalyzing speed-torque characteristics of the engine and the motor, the control strategy of vehiclewas established. and different driving conditions are analyzied. The design selection of batteryand battery management system are discussed. CAN bus technology is applied to Hybrid ElectricSanitation Vehicle’s Signal transmission for the first time, and simplify the complex wiring. Thecircuit layout program is proposed by analysising of the reliability factors of the circuit and theelectrical module. At the last, SX5256DH434PHEV (which is Hybrid Electric Sanitation Vehicle)is tested in terms of vehicle dynamic performance and fuel economy.The results show that, quality parameters, power performances, noise control and brakingsystem of SX5256DH434PHEV (which is hybrid Electric sanitation Vehicle) meet the designspecifications. The average rate of saving fuel was24.4%under the hybrid dynamic mode, andthe rate of saving fuel was up to52%at the speed of40km/h, which meet the designrequirements of Hybrid Electric Sanitation Vehicle, and reach the standards of producing. Then itprovide a reference for the development of Hybrid Electric Vehicle in China.
