The research shows that the destruction of the pavement structure is closely related tosubgrade and soil base strength and heavy traffic phenomenon, through the research on thetrunk highway in the Xinjiang region. As a result, the pavement produces structure reflectivecracking and rutting. Currently, the common work area depth formula is difficult to determineto the work area. When consider of the pavement structure. So the study on the depth ofsubgrade work area has the important engineering practical significance to reduce roaddiseases and improve the life of the road structure in the heavy traffic condition.Through the survey found that semi-rigid base pavement structure is widely used in theXinjiang region. The finite element software is used to nonlinear analysis the road structuralresponse for the different axle type and axle load conditions. The results show that the workarea is3to4meters under multiaxial overload condition, which makes much of soil basework in the scope of subgrade work area. This research analyses the impact of different roadstructural parameters to the depth of the work area by orthogonal experiment. The fittingsoftware is used to fit the work area by standard axle load. The results of the analysis show that tensile stress of the semi-rigid base layer bottom hasexceeded the allowable tensile stress of the specifications required by the serious multi-axisoverload. This is easy to make cracks in the road structure. The cumulative plasticdeformation is calculated on different axle types and axle loads under the subgrade and soilbase. In the case of multi-axis overload, the cumulative plastic deformation can reach morethan30cm. So the subgrade and soil-based are needed for treatment to improve the force ofthe road structure.
