Develop a hub bearing grease. This grease is mainly used to lubricate city bus’s hubbearing which running in summer and high temperature condition. City bus has long runningtime and frequent starting and parking, at the same time, as the effect of body skin on thecooling of wheel hub, can often cause excess temperature of hub bearing. This excessivetemperature of hub bearing will lead to the softening of grease in it, and the grease is ease toleakage and loss after a long time shear. Constantly changing load and speed is easily leads tobearings’ wear. This requires grease has good abrasion resistance under high temperature.Therefore we need to develop a special grease used in city bus hub bearing, in order to fulfillthe hub bearing lubrication requirement in high temperature.Using12hydroxy stearic acid and sebacic acid to react with lithium hydroxide, in orderto generated compound lithium soap to multiviscosity mineral oil600N, in order tomanufacture compound lithium base grease, and use the uniform experimental design todetermine the formula of developed grease. Investigate the effect of processing technology onthe production result of compound lithium base grease. Research the effect of materialcompatibility, mixing method, stirring speed and temperature control on the production resultand the stability of grease when using one step method to produce complex lithium grease.Use single addictive test to examine the compatibility of different kind of antioxidants,extreme pressure and anti-wear reagents, antirust agents to ensure the range of additionamount. According to the special using condition of city bus hub bearing and using theorthogonal experimental design to review the compound of all the addictives to insure theoptimum addition amount.The cone penetrometer and copper corrosion experiments are used to examine thephysical and chemical performance of grease, the shear testing is used to examine themechanical stability of grease, grease separator is used to examine the colloid stability ofgrease, laboratory simulation is used to exam the oxidation stability of grease, dropping pointexperiment is used to examine the heat resistance of grease, using four ball simulation test toexamine the extreme pressure and anti-wear property of grease, Similar viscosity experimentis used to examine the low temperature rheological property of the grease.. The result shows that the developed complex lithium grease’s performance indexconform to the national standard of general lithium based grease GB/T5671-1995. Comparedwith Great Wall HP-R high temperature grease, its dropping point is higher, high and low temperature wear scar diameter are smaller, extend using penetration’s variation is less, Steelmesh points of oil is less corrosive and similar viscosity are almost same. This show that thedeveloped grease has better high-temperature property, anti-wear property, colloidal stabilityand mechanical stability.
