Counter-tilt rock slope is a common form of slope, particularly in the soft rock slopes.People think this slope can avoid the problems that happened in BEDDING SLOPE becauseof the Bedding structure. In general, this slope form relatively stable. But this slope will alsoappear instability and collapse. Some engineering practices show that the counter—tilt rockslope that hasmany dangerous result，Such as invisibility and sudden，high speed andcalamities. So People was realized gradually that the research of counter-tilt rock slope arestrengthened needly important engineering.This Paper is based on a great lot of geological investigations of counter-tilt rock slopeShitian expressway A-CD33slope,YK57+260～YK57+325，Meanwhile，the paper gives adetailed analysis of rockmass strueture characteristic and slope structure characteristie. Basedon this，based on the failure traces of slope during excavation，themechanism of deformationand themode of deformation is analyzed，meanwhile，themode of deformation and failure isgeneralized. Then the stability of high slope after excavation is evaluated reasonable. The keycontents and conclusions are as follows:1.Based upon excavation of slope，the rockmass structure of Shitian expresswayA-CD33slope,YK57+260～YK57+325,is researched completely. The researching consists ofthe different discontinuity，the geological classification of discontinuity，the investigation ofdifferent discontinuity， especially the counter-tilt high-angle dip discontinuity is done. Atlast，themode of rockmass structure is established.2. For soft rock slope failuremechanism, failure regularity classification established arelatively complete system of rock slope failure.
