With the soaring development of Chinese urbanization, landscape design will be morewelcome underscored, which is the inevitable consequence of social economic developmentas well as the direct demonstration of environmental quality that people are more and moreconcerned about. City landscape is the reflection of visualizations, the image of interactionfrom the objective scenery and subjective human beings. So the landscape design will exert asignificant influence on the improvement of urban culture and ecological environment.Traditional culture includes diversified contents and boasts long history like DNA. Eventhough it has undertaken historical change, the traditional culture still endows with classic andprimitive simple Chinese culture, thus making the motivation source of Chinese nation. Withauthor’s scrutinizing analysis, comprehensive concerning about the applicable factors in civiclandscape design, the traditional cultural pattern has been aimed at exploring, discussing thetranslational research of modern city landscape design.Traditional cultural pattern is the explicit demonstration of ethnic culture, its applicationis capable of enhancing people’s national centripetal force, which can increase the impressionof design in targeted audiences and endow modern city landscape with ethnic virtues. Thispaper will comprehensively and deeply analyze traditional pattern, and discuss thetranslational research of traditional pattern of unique ethnic traits in modern city landscapedesign, enabling the decreasing ethnic cultural characteristics regain in city landscape design.Combing the traditional culture with modern landscape design well will definitely has thesignificant impact and meaning on the spread of traditional culture and the promotion ofurbanization construction. Shaanxi, the cradle of Chinese civilization, boasts the uniquecultures among which Xi’an, the capital city for13dynasties in ancient times, endows withabundant folk traditional culture and adequate room for choosing traditional patterns. Thispaper will also analyze several landscape design cases relevant with cultural patterns in Xi’an,deeply explore the influence and function of traditional patterns for civic landscape design.
