Safety Supervision For Super High-rise Buildings

Recent years, super high-rise buildings play important roles in Chineseconstruction industry and it has been a trend that there are more and higher buildingsin China. Nevertheless, serious safety accidents can be found frequently which lead tonot only casualties, but also huge economic loss and negative social impact. As one ofthe participators of the project, supervising companies have responsibilities toguarantee safety management and oversee construction site efficiently because theyplay significant roles to effectively improve the safety of super high-riseconstructions.This study focuses on the issue of super high-rise buildings’ safety supervision.Different methods are used in this study. For example, previous literatures andpractical cases are analyzed and the interviews of experts and safety supervisors arereviewed. The study starts from the safety supervision practices of China World TradeCentre Tower3and analyzes the features and difficulties of super high-rise buildings,the nature of super high-rise building’s safety supervision, responsibilities and thedifferences of safety supervision between super high-rise buildings and normalbuildings. Furthermore, the research points out the key job and key points of superhigh-rise buildings’ safety supervision. Finally, it summarizes the programmatic workpattern to provide experience for future super high-rise buildings’ safety supervision.The paper carries out following findings:1. It shows that the safety management of super high-rise buildings in China isstill at its early stage. The shortcomings of safety management are reasons for safetyaccidents occurred recent years.2. It summarizes the progress and existing problems of super high-rise buildings’safety supervision. It points out the present situation of the safety supervision atpresent is not optimistic, and in practice no pertinence and maneuverability of themethod and means.3. Starting from the nature of the super high-rise buildings, the paper analyzesthe huge differences of safety supervision between super high-rise buildings andnormal buildings. This helps to show a clear way to supervise super high-risebuildings safely. 4. Based on the safety supervision practices of China World Trade Centre Tower3, the paper clears about the super high-rise building construction safety supervisionof the key link and monitoring key, elaborated on the security supervision work howto aim at the characteristics of high building in advance planning. It shows thatgraveness hazard, fire safety, falling, objects strike, the electric safety is themonitoring key, and adjust the shoe mentality, refining monitoring key, strengtheningdaily rounds and emphasizes dynamic management is a key link, it providesexperience for future work,5. Through the China World Trade Centre Tower3of safety supervision worksummary and refining, it’s work methods and related experience used in thecompany’s other dozens of projects, and also made a very good effect. This laid thefoundation for the future similar projects to raise the level of safety supervision.Research shows that tall building safety supervision work, clear high-risecharacteristics is the precondition, completes the key work is the key point, theimplementation of the standardization is the key.
