Research On The Evolution Of Xi’an Urban Community Leisure Space Accessibility On The Basis Of The Place Theory

Place theory, which is to understand the relationship between people and placefrom the person’s feelings, psychological, social, cultural, and ethical perspective, hasbecome a new theory in urban community planning. With the deepening research ofthe urban space, more and more scholars realized that "place" has become a majorconcept in the analysis of the significance of urban micro-space and the importance ofthe city[1]. Studying on the evolution of urban community leisure space accessibilityon the basis of the place theory is of great significance in promoting the developmentof Chinese urban social geography microscopic space principle.By reviewing the living space structure of urban community and its planning inwestern countries, it shows that since1990s, the research of urban communityplanning mainly focuses on the idea of community resources accessibility and itsplanning[2]. As urban community leisure space is part of community resources,studying on the evolution of urban community leisure space accessibility on the basisof the place theory is good for harmoniously urban community leisure space andcommunity construction, which can also raise the quality of urban living space.This paper includes five parts, and the main content goes as follows: The first partis introduction, which gives a brief introduction about the backgrounds, objects,innovations, methods and meanings of the paper; The second part summarizes theorigin and the development of the place theory, the relative conceptions of the placetheory，the essence of the place theory, the methodology genre of the place theory andthe progresses of the research on this field both in and abroad. The third part is aboutthe relative conceptions of community resources accessibility and the theoretical basis;the relative conceptions of community leisure space accessibility and the progresses ofthe research on this field both in and abroad. Taking Xi’an Bell and Drum TowerSquare, North Square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Sakura Square as a casestudy, the forth part conducts a quantitative research on the community leisure spaceaccessibility based on the place theory, raises the evolutionary mechanisms ofcommunity leisure space accessibility, and some suggestions for the harmoniouslycommunity leisure space construction is given. The last chapter summarizes the result of the paper, and looks forward to the further research.
