The Application And Study Of Cultural Elements In The Modern Square Design

Modern urban square is an important element of urban planning and urban design,City Plaza provides a pleasant environment and outdoor public space for urban residents,and it also is the carrier of the history and culture city; and it is one of important meansfor promotes the image of modern city and exhibits the glamour of city.In recent years, many cities in China are busy building their city square, and formthe climax of the construction of urban square. However, there is a serious problemappeared in the process of construction of the city square. There is no essentialdifference among the squares, because the design of the square is influenced by theforeign novelty design idea and concept. Due to the design of the square not reflectstheir city’s culture and lost the unique culture of the city, it is difficult to make adistinction between their city square and the others. Culture is the embodiment ofspiritual values and humanistic values in a city. No cultural means the square is lostvitality and soul in the today. Therefore, we should review and interpret the culturalcontext of the city, develop the special culture for the city, and build the unique style ofurban Plaza. This is an effective way for the protection inheritance and development ofthe cultural; meantime, it is also the key point of this paper.This paper investigates the cultural element and analyzes the cultural contents andmeaning of the cultural in the square in Shaanxi Province. It also summarizes the use ofa cultural element during the design of a city square. Based on the sample of Big WildGoose Pagoda Plaza in Xi’an and unified Square in Xianyang, and analyze the meaningof culture in the construction of city square and the effect of culture on the human soul.At last, we choose a project as example, introduce how to combine the local culture and the city square in the course of design, and make the city culture squarely meet the needof the people and social development.
