Permanent magnet synchronous generator has been applied more and morewidely because of its simple structure and excellent performance. Testing system is animportant support to the motor industry, as the development of the modern computertechnology, control technology and digital signal processing technology, the testingsystem for motor has changed from manual to intelligent. Meanwhile, the PMSG hasthe drawback that output voltage will reduce and hard to remain stable when beingconnected load, which limits its development. Some research has been done in thispaper, which aims at these two significative subjects.Firstly, the history of development, application and research situation have beenintroduced, the need of the intelligent testing system and output voltage regulator alsohave been analyzed.Secondly, the construction features, mathematical model and operationalcharacteristics have been introduced. Based on these, the reason why the outputvoltage reduces when connected load has been analyzed, and existing measures tosolve the problem have been recommended. Integrating the applications of theoff-grid PMSG, the suitable method has been selected.Thirdly, the intelligent testing for generator system has been designed by usingLabVIEW. The function of the program, which has friendly interface and convenientservice, includes the voltage and current signal’s acquisition, display, feature valueextraction, data record and harmonic analysis. The detailed introduction of the designprinciples and program chart for the function described above has been proposed.Fourthly, the measurements for a PMSG of five kilowatts power output havebeen operated by this testing system, which has a good result. Meanwhile, a newtesting method for the synchronous reactance which is the important parameters ofthe PMSG has been proposed in this paper, the testing way is changed from theanalog to the digital, which is more effective than other else. At last, the harmonic ofthe output voltage has been measured and analyzed. Lastly, the voltage regulation by electric electron technology and capacitancecompensation has been researched. The design and device selection of the rectifiersand inverters method by IGBT have been provided, and the effect of capacitancecompensation has been primarily validated. The experiments show that method ofcapacitance compensation is convenient and efficient.In this paper, the intelligent testing system and output voltage regulation havebeen researched based on the actual develop needs of the off-grid PMSG. Thisresearch has certain practical applicable value.
