In recent years, TCN technology is increasingly importance in train communicationnetwork, a fundamental solution of interoperability issues between the train and vehiclecontrol equipment, using TCN in train communication system minimize the cost of traincontrol system’s development, production, use and maintenance costs. Now, TCN has populartrain communication network standard in the world.However, with the deepening research of train communication, compare with thebenefits of CAN, the TCN products has a lot of technology and cost limitations, and havebeen gradually applied in train network. At this time, MVB-CAN gateway is designed toachieve data communication between MVB and CAN bus, which helps CAN vehicleequipment replace some existing MVB vehicle equipment in MVB network. In the designprocess, the analysis of the gateway’s function, principle and realization are given.Firstly, the CAN and MVB protocols are analyzed in detail. Secondly, the gatewayhardware platform is designed and the minimum system is built based on the ARM9processor.And the CAN bus interface module and MVB interface module are carefully designed bychoosing the appropriate hardware chips according to the demands. Thirdly, after analyzingthe basic principles and main function demanding of gateway, CAN and MVB driver and thedata conversion function module are designed in detail in the design of system softwarearchitecture. Finally, the data communication and gateway function of CAN and MVBinterface modules are tested in order to prove the rationality and possibility of the design.
