In recent years, with the booming development of the domestic and international windpower industry, because of its unique advantages, such as low cost, short production cycle,application flexibility, small wind turbine has gained an unprecedented opportunity for itsdevelopment. As the most important components of small wind turbine, the preliminaryaerodynamic design of blade affects overall performance and efficiency directly,therefore,the aerodynamic optimization is receiving more and more attention. In addition, the vibrationcharacteristics of the blade are also very important aspects of small wind turbine. And this isof great significance to avoid blade resonance and failure.This paper carried out related research work on a10KW small wind turbine blade. Themain contents are as follows:(1) Current status of the development of wind energy at domestic and international wasintroduced. The research status of wind turbine blade aerodynamic optimization wasreviewed.(2) The basic theory of small wind turbine blade aerodynamic design was represented indetail, which provided the theoretical foundation for the calculation and analysis of thefollowing chapters.(3) Based on the BEM theory and correction theory, the aerodynamic performancecalculation model of small wind turbine blade was established and its calculating programwas complied with MATLAB software. Applying this model, the aerodynamic performanceof a10KW small wind turbine blade was calculated. Compared to the result of GH-Bladed,which is international wind power authentication software. The excellent coherence verifiedthe accuracy and reliability of this model.(4) Aerodynamic optimization design for a10KW small wind turbine blades were carriedout. The wind speed probability distribution and power output characteristics were taken intoconsideration. Taking annual energy production (AEP) as the optimized target, the bladeaerodynamic optimization calculation model was set up. Particle Swarm OptimizationAlgorithms which was provided by Isight, were integrated with MATLAB in order to carryout global optimization. Compared with the original blade, AEP has increased by4.77%,which indicates that the optimal method has certain superiority.(5) Based on ANSYS Workbench multi-physical field coupling platform, taking a10KWsmall wind turbine blade under the rated operating conditions as object of study, the couplingeffect modal analysis of wind turbine blade was fully implemented. The results indicated thatdue to rotating and fluid-structure interaction, blade vibration modal frequency and dynamic characteristic had changed. And it can make the reflection of vibration characteristics muchcloser to the actual situation, which had great significance to the study of resonance andaeroelastic stability.
