Water is the source of life, the human beings’ favor of water reflects their intimaterelationship with nature. Thus, park is often the most attractive place in the city by the popularway of setting some waterscape, which is also always recognized as the representative oflandscape. However, there are two reasons that make it a challenge to have some waterscape incity parks of Beijing. The first reason is the feature of concentration rainy season and lack ofrain for other time in a year for Beijing’s climate, and the second reason is that the demand ofwater becomes larger and larger with the continuo us de velop ment of Beijing city. Hence, toreduce this contradiction between request and demand, it is meaningful to make the research ofhow to create more water resources and save the use of water, how to keep the water clean anduse the water rationally in Beijing.At present, few researches that focus on proposing design framework waterscapeecological design have been do ne, and less on the app lication of waterscape ecological designin the city park. Theoretically, there are two main aspects of research on waterscape ecologicaldesign. One is from the macro scale po int which has the draw point of lacking practiceapplication, and the other aspect is to discuss in a small scale which cannot obtain asystematical view point. While for the research about practice application of waterscapeecological de sign, people begin to try some kinds of methods for waterscape ecological designin some community and parks, however, successful experiences have seldo m been summarizedthoroughly.In order to summarize the successful experience on waterscape ecological design inBeijing, the design methods of waterscape in11Beijing city parks are investigated whichincludes the utilization of rain and reclaimed water, the quality and forms of water, sources ofwater supply, Irrigation methods, The utilization of aquatic animals and plants, as well as theform of green space. What is more,4typical parks are chosen to be investigated specially. After that, methods of ecological waterscape design by applying the ecology principle aresummarized and ways about how to plan and design the waterscape to satisfy the function ofbeautification environment and maintain the healthy and sustainable operation of the waterecological system are also discussed.Through the study of this article, the following conclus ions:(1) most of the park inBeijing there are four aspects: the deficiency of the design itself is lack of scientific planning asa whole; Water design is not reasonable; Park awareness of unconventional water utilization isnot high; Park in the late maintenance measures are not enough. Adva ntage is in the part of thepark has applied some ecological design methods, both in park planning and design scale.(2)The final results of this paper is to put forward a method of ecological waterscape design,from the park planning to design scale, as well as pay attention to later period maintenance andmanagement. Such as emphasis on biodiversity and water system connectivity, application ofreclaimed water and rainwater, control of water quality, water-saving design, recycling water,considering the winter landscape in park planning scale; the design of natural ecologicalsystem, ecological floating island, ecological revetment, aquatic animals and plants,as well asthe use of the permeable pavement and the permeable facilities In detail design.
