Therefore,make the city of Nanchang the research subject in order to rich the gaps of empiricalstudies of the central and western regions.Mainly based on digital data such as perimeter data like1949、1958、1984、1996、2002、2005、2011land-use map of Nanchang city、the statistical year book、thecensus data of Fourth, five, six times and so on, Using geographic information systemtechnology, inductive method and mathematical simulation method and this paperanalyses the characteristics of urban space expansion and also the expanse situation ofinterior construction land use (industrial and residential areas) from various anglessuch as the expansion speed of Nanchang built-up areas、expansion intensity、differentdirection changes(Radar map)、 urban land compactness、 Boyce-Clark、 fractaldimension and so on. Through consulting statistical yearbook, based on continuoussequence of impact factor, analyzing the factors which affect the space expansion byapplying the Grey correlation analysis and the principal component analysis and compared the space influence effect of various stages. Summarize the formationmechanism of Nanchang space expansion. The result shows that: the Nanchang urbanspace expansion can be divided into six stages: primary high development stage,earlier fluctuant development stage, medium-term rapid development stage, recentstable development stage, modern high development stage and modern rapiddevelopment stage. The urban spatial framework varies from the old town as thecenter, east-south extension direction and to periphery decorate bay in the lotus pond,shigang such as health town and to transit line as axis, the gradually furtherdevelopment, forming a cluster of one center five distractions depended.In the study of influence factors, there is a significant correlation between theinvestment in fixed assets and the urban land use expansion.
