Bending Properties Analysis Of Sandwich Plates With Balsa Core

Nowadays the core materials for sandwich structure using in prefabricated houses exists many problems, such as inflammable, poisonous, besides, their properties of insulation and soundproofing is poor. In order to improve these defects, this paper gives a new green material-balsa wood instead the core of sandwich structure, which has wonderful performance about insulation and soundproofing. Using this new material as core, we make some sandwich plate speciments, which use thin steel plates as faceplates. We use three point bending experiments to measure the bending mechanical properties and the failure modes about these new sandwich plates. Then, using the finite element method to simulate the experiment, and get the possible factors about the failure of these speciments. On the basis of the experiments and the simulation, we get some viable engineering proposals. A new format about the the bidirectional double spline finite point method of sandwich plate is established to solve the bending problems. After the results contrast, we know this new method is feasible and effective. The major content of this paper are listed below.1、Introduce the history of sandwich structures and the defects of the sandwich plates using in construction. Describe the properties and the engineering applications of balsa wood in details. 2、Making a new sandwich plates with balsa core. Then use three point bending experiments to measure the bending mechanical properties and the failure modes about these new sandwich plates. Analyse the possible factors which affect the bending performance of sandwich plate and correct some bending properties.3、By using finite method to simulate the experiment we get the possible factors about the failure of these sandwich plates, and analyse the deviation between experiments and simulation.4、Based on the results from experiments and simulation, we get some engineering recommends of sandwich plates with balsa core.5、A new calculation format about the bidirectional double spline finite point method for sandwich plate is established.
