With the rapid development of electronic technology and information technology, people’s pursuit on the management level of water, electricity, gas and other measuring instruments and the automation of measurement instrumentation is increasing, to achieve automatically transcribing of variety instruments has become inevitable. Drawbacks in the traditional manual transcribing way causes some economic losses to society, Therefore, this study designs meter remote monitoring and control system based on GPRS, which can achieve automatic monitoring, metering and charges on the water, electricity, gas of the residential area users. The system has the advantages of lower cost, stable, accurate measurement data, easy installation and maintenance, remote management.This article first introduces the development status of the monitoring and control system for the current meter (water meter, electric meter, gas meter).This study discussed the overall design concept of the three tables based on GPRS remote monitoring and control system, and elaborated including three meters Remote composition and working principle of the monitoring and control system, the composition and characteristics of the telecommunications system, as well as monitoring the function of the control module. In this thesis, a more detailed analysis and design on the hardware and software components for remote monitoring and control system of the three meters, the last is reasonable forecasts and projections about the development prospects of remote monitoring and control system of the three meters.This three meters remote monitoring and control system based on GPRS is composed mainly by data acquisition module, memory module, GPRS communication module, intelligent three meter sections. The advantage of the design is that the three meters’communications and save of data is realized by a microcontroller, three-valve switch is controlled by a microcontroller alone, its monitoring and control is independent, this can improve the reliability and stability of the system.The three meters remote monitoring and control system based on GPRS realizes the remote transcribe on water, electricity, gas and other energy consumption information, it also can solve the dispersion of the energy-consuming management and statistics cumbersome. GPRS communication mode has certain advantages and representative on the data transmission communication, GPRS technology has a real strong, fast transmission speed, stability, maturity advantages, greatly improving the monitoring and control speed.
