The noise caused by industries has become a kind of pollution. So research on noise control is quite essential. Active noise control (ANC) system has the strength of better control effect on reducing noise of low and medium frequency bands, and better portability. It has made up for the deficiencies of the traditional control methods. With the adoption of high-performance and low-power consumption DSP to realize the adaptive algorithms, the ANC has gradually been developed as a new and practical technology. The ANC systems have a variety of architectures and algorithms to adapt to different actual scenarios. The noise reduction algorithm FX-LMS and its variants are the most widely used ones.This report studies the basic principles of ANC and implementation technologies in-volved. The details are given as follows:1. Research on ANC systems, including those by feedforward and feedback control are carried out. Particularly, more attentions are paid to the feedforward control systems which have been popularly used in practice.2. Several noise reduction algorithms in feedforward ANC systems are examined, among which the FX-LMS algorithm is our primary focus. Simulations are executed using MATLAB for the class of feedforward ANC systems.3. A deep study of DSP TMS320C5509A is given in terms of optimal hardware configu-rations and the optimization of resources in different experiment environments is considered.4. An DSP-based feedforward ANC pipeline platform is set up to carry out noise re-duction experiments, in which the programming for the noise reduction algorithm FX-LMS is designed. Experiments are executed on this platform and the results show that the imple-mented ANC system has a certain noise reduction effect and that further effort is needed in order to make ANC systems effectively be used in practice.
