As a railway passenger and freight transport equipment, EMU has standard services such as fast, secure and high. Since more and more attentions are given to EMU, it is becoming more vital in railway transportation. EMU failure is inevitable during the operation, and how to ensure a safe and efficient operation of EMU is the most important work. The competitive strength of EMU would be enhanced by information and lifecycle management, which can be a help in reasonable decision-making and faster response. Management infomatization can forward important failure information to maintenance staffs timely, and ultimately improve the safety of EMU.In addition, trends that software for component-based development has emerged due to the development of equipment and technology. And the requirements of system functions replacement are higher and higher.Based on the advantages of information management, we introduced information management and component-based concept into the EMU equipment management and maintenance to improve the efficiency of EMU management.This paper researched and introduced the MRO (maintenance, repair, overhaul and operations) technology and component-based technology. Specifically, a detailed research is done on MRO technology such as the basic concepts, life cycle, development platform and core technology of development platform. Meanwhile, the system architecture is designed with its internal functions based on the basic component-based thoughts and business requirements analyzing. This paper focuses on the important functions of the system:equipment health monitoring, repair order management, maintenance resource scheduling and maintenance execution detection.Gives an introduction on the details of design and implementation for those functions list above.Experimental results show that the solution improved the link between the trains and maintenance staffs, reduced the wait time of equipment maintenance, improved the efficiency of maintenance work, and promoted the development of the EMU equipment "plan repair" maintenance to the "state repair" maintenance.
