There are more and more old industrial and civil buildings which are left byhistory, no longer possess functions in production or cannot satisfy the requirementof current production. Though design for “recycle of applicability”, the remainingvalue of the existing buildings themselves can be exerted. Therefore, how toperform design for “Recycle of Applicability” is an important topic with obviousepoch feature.Based on a case study of the “recycle of applicability” of a practicalengineering project, this paper determined the construction plan througharchitectural and structural design for “recycle of applicability” by performinganalysis with PKPM. In addition, the design thinking and constructional points forattention of this type of engineering project was analyzed with follow upinvestigations from design, construction, to service stage. At last, the application of“recycle of applicability” of existing buildings in engineering practice wasdiscussed by analyzing the safety of the reinforcement and reconstruction part withFEM (Finite Element Analysis) software ABAQUS. To achieve expected effects, the recycling thinking, construction techniques and method for safety analysislisted and analyzed in this paper usually need to be further detailed and improved inpractical application. Overall, by reasonably recycling existing buildings, not onlythe investment of new constructions and municipal refuse generated fromdismantling old buildings can be saved, but also the continuation of the inheritedculture of the city can be protected. The research idea and method used in thispaper can provide some experience and reference for similar engineering projects.
