Water supply system is one of the most important infrastructures of the city,and also a large energy consumer. The power cost account for a large proportion ofthe total cost of water supply system. Power system to implement the Time-of-useelectricity price (TOU) policy will influence on the water supply systemcomposition and operation mode. Many influencing factors should be consideredwhen the design of the water supply system to meet water supply reliability, and tryto make the system optimal economy. In order to reduce the supply costs, must beto optimize the design of the entire water supply system, and electrical energy inthe low-load periods should be used rationally to reduce power cost.This article has studied the influence of the terrain and TOU price on thepumping station, the reservoir, the network and the layout of water supply systemseparately. In annual cost as the objective function, water quantity,water pressure,pipe diameter requirements were established as a constraint optimizationmathematical model of water conveyance system and water distribution system indifferent composition and layout. By analysis of the composition and layout of urbanwater supply system, and consider the impact of of TOU price on the construction cost of thesystem, Operating costs and reliability of water supply.Finally, according to specific local terrain, water consumption,put forward theoptimal mode of Shexian water supply system composition and layout with theminimum year cost of the system as objective function and in case of the TOUprice.
