In hydraulic engineering, earth-rock dam is the most widely used type. It has manyadvantages, such as simple structure, better adaptability. Currently, seepage analysis andstress analysis is usually separate calculation alone in the study of the earth-rock dam. Thereis little analysis focus on the seepage-stress coupling. But A large number of practices showthat there is a coupling between the seepage field and stress field in the earth dam body. Insome specific analyzes and studies, this interaction can not be ignored, so the couplinganalysis is very important and indispensable. Taking the Yunxi earth rock-fill dam as anexample of the research, this papers has mainly carried out following work:1. Describes the mathematical models and finite element equations of earth-rock dam’sstress analysis and seepage analysis. Using the finite element program calculated seepagefield, stress field, and the results are compared.2. In-depth study of the seepage field and stress field coupling mechanism. Get themathematical model of the seepage field and stress field coupling as well as the finite elementmethods to solve the model.3. The methods of solving free surface for steady seepage and calculating other relatedfactors including flow rate, hydraulic gradient and so on are analyzed. Initial flow method forsolving the unconfined seepage free surface has been improved.4. Derive the mathematical expression between the permeability coefficient andvolumetric strain of the soil, and in accordance with this relationship, Based on the existingfinite element stress calculation program, added the subroutine can according to soil straincalculating permeability coefficient, convenient for solving the seepage field under the stressfield.5. Combined with Hunan Yunxi dam project, the relationship between soil permeabilitycoefficient and soil volumetric strain as the coupling link, analysis of seepage field and stressfield coupling through mutual iterative seepage calculation program and stress calculationprogram. Finally, compared with the NES coupling.
