With the acceleration of urbanization and the rapid increase of city population, the problem of traffic congestion in large and medium-sized cities has becoming more and more serious. As a result, nowadays, more people are making traveling by bus their first choice. Meanwhile, the development of a fine bus transportation system has also now been used to evaluate the level of modernization and informatization of a city. In the past, every bus was equipped with a conductor. However, for efficiency and labor saving, this paper will try to analyze some mainstream intelligent bus station. In addition, with the adoption of GPS, speech synthesis, and an ARM core processor, a new and smart system will be designed in this paper to realize automatic station reporting.In the beginning, the paper introduces the current development and composition of intelligent transport system (ITS) at home and abroad. It also talks about the relation between ITS and GPS and gives a detailed analysis of the GPS technology in terms of definition, composition, and its positioning theory.Then, the paper focuses on the hardware and software of the intelligent bus station. An overall function discuss will be put forward first and specific designs of each part will be followed. The hardware part includes a GPS module, an ARM module, and a automatic station reporting module, in which the ARM module contains an ARM core processor, UART, LCD, ADC, SPI, RTC, SD card, FLASH, and the Ethernet, etc. The paper elaborates the design of each function circuit and the selection of each module. The software part mainly consists of GPS data processing, interrupt response and data comparison in the ARM module, and automatic station reporting.Finally, The paper is concluded with a set of testing work in hardware and software.and the test of software include three aspect.First,whether the GPS data can be received properly. Second, whether the GPS data received can be converted into longitude and latitude data and be displayed. Third, whether the intelligent bus station can work precisely when the GPS data are matched. Through testing, the above three functions are well realized.
