The Athens charter stipulated leisure is one of urban functions in1933. Urban provides spaces for pursuing leisure, meeting leisure demand, consuming leisure products and services. With the development of social and human leisure demand, leisure and construction of leisure spaces have increasingly become an important feature of modern urban planning. Urban spatial layout ideas have been moved from work-oriented to life-oriented. Foreign urban leisure spaces research began in the1960s, mainly from aspects of supply and demand, especially in the field of leisure constraints. Domestic study began in the early1990s and focused on supply aspects much more than demand and usage. Moreover, the classification standard of urban leisure spaces has not been unified. Therefore, this article firstly attempts to construct an urban leisure spaces classification system with4main categories,6sub-categories and17basic types, based on large numbers of research literature and related standards of industrial sectors; Secondly, investigating demand and supply characteristics of urban leisure space in Fuzhou; Moreover, this article also analyzes constraints to fitness places use by Fuzhou residents and its differences among different behavior subjects’;Finally, recommendations on leisure spaces planning, leisure constraints intervening are provided in views of government, enterprises and scholars. Research has a certain theoretical and practical significance.
