The extended range city bus is an important way to solve energy deficiency and environment pollution. Urban traffic congestion, vehicle emissions pollution, energy shortage, as the most important passenger vehicles, City bus has some characteristics with the fixed path, stable operation time, and the same driving cycles, and around200km range every day etc.. In this case, the conventional IC engines bus has many defects on fuel consumption and emissions, but, the extended range city bus could relieve urban pollution and reduce its dependence on oil which is caused by the conventional IC engines bus.At first, this paper addresses and researches the driving cycles of domestic and overseas, according to the working condition’s impact on the hybrid bus, in the design of hybrid bus system structure, the actual driving cycles of Kunming city’s public transportation was taken into fully consideration, and refers to the typical driving cycles of other countries for the establishment of the later simulation model. The research object is the D19TCI engine of Yunnan Power. Based on the measured engine data and universal characteristics figure provided by the manufacturer, setting up the model in the ADVISOR software environment, and according to the actual working condition of Kunming city’s transportation and the bus power requirements, the other parts of the engine’s matching model is established, then, simulation in different operating conditions to verify its power and fuel efficiency performance.By the analysis of the characteristics of vehicle operation mode and control strategies, and combining the Kunming city bus’s driving cycles, comparing and analyzing the constant temperature control strategy and power follow control strategy, the control strategy of the model is obtained, the optimized result is satisfying.
