Owing to the effect of global climate warming, convective weather such as hail,rainstorm and snowstorm appeared frequently, threatening severely peoples’ life andproperty security, as well as extensive loss resulting from meteorologic disasters is moreand more serious due to lots of application of modern electronic equipments. Thesituation requires meteorologic department to improve the service ability includingautomation of meteorologic observation network, refinement of meteorologic forecastand socialization of meteorologic service. To meeting these requirements, it is verynecessary to improve service ability and develop quickly the atmospheric monitoringmethod and computer technology, especially the using of the new generation Dopplerweather radar and lightning detection network, providing good monitoring and warningfor disastrous weather. Although new detection devices have strong function andabundant detection data, the various data formation is used difficultly in the practicalapplication. Therefore, how to transfer the advanced hardware devices to theimprovement of service ability is a important research content.In the thesis, the detection devices including the new generation Doppler weatherradar and lightning detection network and the current situation of weather modificationare introduced for meteorologic department of Shanxi province firstly. And then thedata type and relevant products based on these detection devices are presented. Somefunction achieved in the system is revealed, bonding the products, the research results ofweather modification and the requirements of works. Finally, detailed design of thesystem, key technology and calculation of products are referred in detailed.The main contents of the thesis are as follows:The first chapter presents the research progress of meteorologic radar, lightningdetection and weather modification at home and abroad, and main research content, aimand meaning of the thesis. The second chapter reveals the fundamental situation of thenew generation Doppler weather radar of Shanxi province, and introduces relevantproducts in the two field of single radar and several radar picture mosaic. Followed byintroducing the fundamental situation of the lightning detection network including the deployment methods of networks, data transmission and the storage methods of data,etc. Finally, the situation of weather modification of Shanxi province is declared indetailed. The third chapter presents the requirement analysis of item and system design.The fourth chapter introduces mainly operational principle and technical method ofseveral modules in the system. The fifth chapter analyses the application of the systemin weather modification. The principle, physical meaning, merits and drawbacks ofradar product (VIL) are introduced firstly. And then the principle and calculatingmethod of two products for weather modification are referred. The sixth chaptersummarizes the whole work of the thesis, and looks ahead.
