According to the operation experience, Lightning is the main reason for220kV lines tripping in Beijing grid. This paper selects220kV Anzuo transmission line as the main object of study, collects the data of nearby lightning activities, lightning trip records, line paths, topography, tower structure and lightning protection measures etc. Using differential lightning-proof technology, this paper analyses on lightning distributing characteristics of Anzuo transmission line, as well as provides real and detail data, and considering the terrain features, line insulation characteristics and other factors. Calculate every tower’s lightning trip-out rate. According to the calculation results, it makes a through analysis on lightning flashover characteristics of every tower and span along the transmission line, evaluates lightning flashover risk to find out the risk tower. By comparing the evaluation results and the actual operation situation, found that two of those close to the anastomosis, verified the science and effectiveness of the differential lightning-proof technology. In the end, this paper provides multiple sets of lightning-proof measures including reduce the earthing resistance, install the lightning arrester or lightning rod, then compares tech-economic rationalities.Comprehensive research results, using differential lightning-proof technology on Anzuo transmission line, it can ensure the feasibility and effectiveness of the lightning protection, avoid unnecessary waste of resources. Ultimately improve the lightning impulse withstand level and to reduce lightning trip-out rate of transmission line. This paper can provide reference to the units engaged in the design, management and operation of the transmission line.
