Reticulated shell structure has the advantage of light weight, reasonable force,beautiful design and short construction period to make industrial production easy, sothat it is widely implemented in the design of engineering field. In recent years, withthe rapid development of steel structure, applications of the reticulated shell structureare expanding. The larger span and thinner thickness, hence there is a profoundsignificance to research the optimization design of the structure.Taking the Schwedler shell as an example, this paper make it optimization analyzepossible. The bar’s finite element model of the single-layer lattice shell is the spatialbeam unit, and its capacity depends not only on the strength of bars, but also on thestability of local structure and the entirety. Besides, the strength, stiffness, stability andgeometry restrictive conditions must be taken into consideration in the design processof the single spherical reticulated shell.Firstly, the development and the principles of reticulated shell structure andoptimization design is introduced, the spatial beam unit of the bar’s finite elementmodel and optimization method are researched specially.Secondly, the assignment will be based on the commercial FEM software ANSYSto establish the three dimensional FE model which is built as the Schwedler shell. Byextracting structural deformation and stress intensity, it is to make analyze withoptimization results, and the static, modal and stability are also analyzed. The structureof the Schwedler shell is optimized by ISIGHT which is the integrated optimizationsoftware. We obtain sound effects by making analyze with optimization results. Thestability analysis of the structure is implemented, in consideration that the reticulatedshell is a kind of structure which is sensitive to deficiency.Finally, by researching into the relationship between natural frequencies withrise-span ratio, bear number and load on the base the principles of vibrationcharacteristic, we obtain some useful design theory. By analyzing the structure underthe action of seismic wave in the displacement and stress distribution, we get the resultto satisfy request.
