Electricity is promoting national economic boom power. Power quality has direct influence on our production and life. Recent years, with power electronic devices and various nonlinear equipment using, the power system appeared a lot of reactive power and harmonic. It seriously affects the safety and stable operation of the power system and power efficiency, what’s more, hindered the further development of the power system. Grid reactive power balance and high order harmonic elimination has important significance on reactive power and harmonic compensation and grid optimization and so on. Using advanced control theory will fast and accurate compensate both harmonic and reactive power in the same device. It will achieve twice the result with half the effort. It covers a small area and controls widely and has wide development potential.This paper first introduces the basic development of the reactive power compensation and filtering device and the research status at home and abroad. Then it analyzes the working principle of the new compensation device and set up the mathematical model. Quickly and accurately obtain instruction current signals is the premise of the compensation device. This paper adopts the current assay based on the instantaneous reactive power. After the thorough analysis design an improved method joining stable dc side voltage and analyzes the reactive power compensation and harmonic rationality and validity. According to the conventional PID, this paper introduce the fuzzy adaptive PID control. It can correct the PID parameters online and improve the compensation accuracy and response time.With researching the control strategy, this paper makes use of the powerful simulation function of MATLAB and built fuzzy adaptive controller. It is demonstrated that the control method is superior. At the same time established the whole simulation model of the device and use a variety of operation simulation experiment to verify and optimize the design of reactive current method and control strategy. Finally the simulation results show that this compensation system has a good dynamic performance. It not only can achieve accurate compensation effect but also can fast response when suddenly add load. Finally on the basis of simulation result design the hardware circuit of the device and write some software control procedure to carry on.
