The problem of vibration and noise of the transmission is one of the problems that need to be solved urgently in the current automotive industry. The good vibration characteristic and sound quality can not only prolong the service life of the transmission, improve the vehicle’s power performance and fuel economy, and also provide warm and comfortable environment for vehicle driver and passengers, reduce the urban noise pollution at the same time. Based on a newly developed transmission as the research object, the theoretical analysis and simulation study of the vibration and noise characteristics is carried on.Firstly, the mechanism of vibration and noise of the transmission is discussed and classified in detail; Then, according to the2D model, using the3D modeling software SolidWorks, the transmission housing3D entity model is built. And on the basis of it, using the finite element analysis software HyperWorks, the finite element model of the transmission housing is built and the free modal is analyzed, the transmission housing modal frequencies and corresponding vibration mode is got; In order to have an intuitive understanding of the dynamic characteristics of the transmission, then, taking the engine reverse incentive as the excitation source, the frequency response analysis was carried out on the transmission housing, the node displacement, velocity and acceleration data of the transmission housing is got. Finally, in order to obtain sound radiation characteristics of transmission housing, using the acoustic software Virtual Lab, taking the node speed of the transmission housing as boundary conditions, the simulation of noise radiation of the transmission housing is carried out, and the brief analysis of the simulation results is made.
