Because of overspeed and the driver’s mistakes, there are lots of vehicle accidents and traffic accidents in Ready-mix concrete delivery. The escalating scale and growing complexity of ready-mixed concrete (RMC) delivery operations have challenged current methods for monitoring RMC delivery and dispatching concrete mixing trucks. The concept of Internet of Vehicles is an application of concept of Internet of Things in Intelligent Transport System. Real-time monitoring of concrete mixing truck which based on Internet of Vehicles can reduce accidents, strengthen management, and improve dispatching efficiency. Right now, the whole industry lacks a scientific and reasonable dispatching model; basically rely on the experience of the staff. Efficient concrete delivery model is very necessary, which can ensure that the casting quality, speed up the progress of the project and reduce the opportunity cost of the vehicle. This paper reviews the status of RMC distribution, the factors that influence the distribution and the Internet of Vehicles. An integrated monitoring system which based on Internet of Vehicles is described. The system can monitor the truck’s speed, location of concrete mixing trucks and the state of the concrete truck mixer on the truck. Data forwarding module which is designed to improve the scalability of the system is described in detail. Because of data forwarding module, the data processing module and application processing module is separated.Because of the special characteristic of RMC distribution, especially the strict time constraint, the dispatching of concrete mixing truck is a very difficult problem. A dispatching model is set up which minimizes sum of the construction sites’waiting time for RMC trucks and the RMC trucks’waiting time on the construction sites. Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Tabu Search Algorithm (TS) are used to solve this problem. GA which is capable of searching multiple search areas in a search space is good in diversification. Because of weak local search ability of genetic algorithm, Tabu Search Algorithm is used to improve it. Experiments show that a hybrid of the two heuristic outperforms the individual heuristics alone in solving RMC delivery problem.
