Plane Steel Gate is one of the most typical structures in hydraulic steel structures,which is widely applied to water conservancy project construction. But plane gatedesign exists the problems such as tedious calculation work and heavy workload, aswell as program development which is not enough intelligent. Thus developing planesteel gate design platform is very necessary. In this paper, the GMO method and RNGk turbulence model were adopted to simulate the hydrodynamic vertical force ofthe plain gate in the opening and closing process. The article applied basic designtheories and common design methods, and developed a simple and practical designplatform which was based on Visual Basic6.0. Finally, traditional design methods andgate design platform were respectively used to calculate the design parameters ofengineering examples, and the results shown that results of platform calculation weremore reliable and efficient. The main research contents are as follows:(1) The domestic plane steel gate design development and current researcheswere Reviewed, and the classical gate structure calculation methods and structureanalysis methods were introduced, as well as the characteristics of the gate thecomposition, structure layout, structure design were detailed introduces.(2) Solving opening and closing force of dynamic water vertical force were donefurther study in this paper. First, it very detailed introduced FLOW3D software abouttheory basis and solving ideas; Second, it applied GMO method and RNGturbulence model to simulate the hydrodynamic vertical force of the plain gate in theopening and closing process, and used calculation formulas to solve gate opening andclosing force.(3) The modular and parameter theory were made advanced research in the paper,and then module and parameter calculation platform model were established.Finally, key technologies and methods were put forward to ensure calculationplatform more safely and efficient.(4) Structure design, layout drawing, principle of design report generation andideas of program development were done further research.(5) Combining with an engineering design example, plane steel gate computationplatform design process and calculation effect were expounded in this paper.
