Suspendome is a new kind of hybrid space structure system which is composedof flexible system and rigid system. It integrates the advantages of these two systems.Because of its better overall stability, reasonable force flow and large stiffness, it cancross a more larger space. The mechanical properties of the irregular spheroidicitysuspendome structure will be analyzed in this paper on the base of East Asian GamesCycling Gymnasium in Tianjin by two finite element software—MIDASGen andANSYS.This paper introduces the general situation of the project, design basis andloading condition. Then it carries out structure preliminary design scheme selection,the grid style partitioning optimization, cable support system layout optimization,biomimetic design, design and calculation of bearing parts and bearing springstiffness optimization. Construction model is built in two finite element software andestablish spring constraint and three hinged constraint to simulate bearing.First of all, the pre-stress optimization analysis is taken to determinate theoptimal initial value of prestressed cable. Then the static property of the suspendomestructure is studied on to research the support reaction, element stress and nodaldisplacement under the load effect combination. Secondly, eigen-buckling analysisand nonlinear buckling analysis is carried out to identify instability mode and criticalload factor to know the stable bearing capability, the stiffness distribution and weakareas of the structure.Thirdly, the dynamic performance analysis including the natural vibrationproperties and the revitalization of decomposition response spectrum analysis iscarried out to ascertain that this structure has enough bearing capacity under theearthquake action. Finally, it takes force analysis of the structure under temperatureaction and the load combination including temperature action. It selectively analysesthe temperature action influence to the support reaction, element stress and nodaldisplacement to ensure that the response can satisfy requirements of the design code.This paper analyses various mechanical property of East Asian Games CyclingGymnasium in Tianjin synthetically and compare the two kinds of software analysis results to get the analysis conclusion. These are standardized to be applied directly topractical engineering.
